Two birds, one tree
Two birds, one tree
Two birds in one tree argue
over its span, its symbolic reach,
the meaning of it all, the seeds,
the fallen leaves,
finalized by gravity.
Two men in one boat discuss
the ripples on water,
the bob and the line,
the murky depths,
in fathoms beneath.
Four creatures thus converse
across the elements of
wind and water,
growth and grossness
of life and its demise.
That the wind may blow
and water perturbates,
that men and birds imitate
the world’s inadvertent sounds,
as time is lost and we lose ground
the note and the
nodes,
its liveliness casually found.
